Gujarat woman all set to marry herself in country’s first ‘sologamy’

Hyderabad: Marriages are said to be decided in heaven. Boys and girls entering into wedlock are common. Of late, a woman tying the nuptial with another woman and a man getting married to another man were also reported in the media. It is common for any gender to have a companion to one another. However, the marriage mentioned here is very different from all these .. even special. A young woman is going to get married without any other companion. Though it is surprising to hear, but it is true. A young woman from Gujarat has decided to marry herself.

The 24-year-old Kshama Bindu from Vadodara is all set to marry herself. But, she wanted to hold all the rituals like a normal wedding. She is getting married on June 11 with all the fanfare except groom and ‘baraat’. She said, “I never wanted to get married, but wanted to see herself in a bride’s attire and do all rituals that bride does before and during the wedding.”

“Self-marriage is a commitment to stand up for ourselves .. to show love to yourself. Some people marry someone they love. But, I love myself. That is why I am getting married. Not only that, has anyone in the country done this before? I searched online, but no details were found. Maybe I was the first person. Such a marriage is said to be inappropriate say some, but I am trying to convey that women are important to society.”

The young woman, who is working in a private company, said that she is getting married in a temple in Gotri in Vadodara of Gujarat. She also revealed that her parents had agreed to her marriage. The new bride is going to Goa for two weeks solo for her honeymoon after marriage. However, this is not the first time such a marriage is being performed not only in Gujarat but across the country. Currently, this wedding news has gone viral on social media.
